Wedding Dress Adventures, Ushuaia, Argentina.

ushuaia wedding dress adventure

Our wedding dress adventures have so far taken us far and wide. We’ve been as north as Karesuando – the northern most city in Sweden, right on the border between Sweden and Finland (to see the Northern Lights) and now as part of our “Christmas Cruise” holiday at the end of last year we were able to tick off the Southern most city in the world – Ushuaia in Argentina!

Ushuaia is affectionately known as “the end of the world” as it is the Southern most city in the world. The only thing more “south” than this city, is Antarctica and the South Pole – neither of which have land mass.

One of the things to do in Ushuaia is visit the old prison (creepy) – so we headed off there as soon as we docked to take a walk around the museum. The museum itself although interesting was pretty cold, dark and as you can imagine depressing, but luckily I spotted some brochures in the museum offering a free hot chocolate at one of the local chocolate shops. (Free hot chocolate? Surely not? What’s the catch? Can’t be!?)

After our prison museum tour, we decided anyway to walk to the chocolate shop Turista and… as it turns out, in Argentina, there really is such a thing as a no-strings attached free hot chocolate!

(And, the most delicious hot chocolate I think I’ve ever had – just to be clear!)

The guys at the Chocolates del Turista were SO friendly (even though some things were definitely lost in translation!) – I would definitely recommend making a stop at this chocolate shop!

As we got chatting we were explaining to them how we needed to find an iconic place to take a “wedding photo” – which was in itself a tricky thing to explain in our non-existant Spanish and their broken English. Somehow though we got our wires tuned and they told us the best place will be the giant Ushuaia sign. They even pulled up pictures on google through the computer to show us what it looked like! We all agreed that this was definitely the spot!

We headed back to the boat to change into our wedding gear and then trekked off to the Ushuaia sign. It had started to drizzle a little bit but we soldiered on – all in the name of the “wedding album” haha!

As we got to the sign the sun started to come out a little bit which was fabulous! And, with the best crew around – we managed to get some epic Ushuaia wedding dress adventure snaps!

It took a few tries but we did get a few money shots for sure!

And of course when there is a big crew of mom, dad, brother and his girlfriend it makes the whole process a LOT more streamlined and easy to navigate than when it’s just Warren and I and we have to somehow find an honest and willing stranger to hand our camera, clothes and bags over to! haha!

The brother and the dad assumed most of the “professional” wedding shots, whilst my mom and my brother’s girlfriend were “second shooters” on their cell phones. So quite literally, we have more wedding photos from this little pit stop than from our entire wedding day. ha.
