Wedding Dress Adventure: The Captain’s Bridge

Let me just start this post by saying, that if there is ONE person in a cruise ship of 2000 guests who is going to make his way into the Captain’s Bridge – it is Graham Kershaw.

And that is exactly what he did.

Common running punchline on our “Cruising Clan” adventure tended to run something along the lines of,

“Where’s Dad?”

“Oh, he’s playing cards with the Captain.”

One time he really actually WAS oh, you know, just learning to use a Sextant with his new mate Gary.

Anyway, by the end of the cruise, the Captain had Graham Kershaw on speed dial. (Legitimately True. And they’ve ACTUALLY had a call post cruise. I know.)

So, of course, the legendary Graham Kershaw managed to get his new friend Captain Kim to let us into the Captain’s Bridge for a picture in our wedding kit to add to our ever growing album of wedding dress adventures.

We weren’t too sure about taking too many photos inside the actual bridge of all the computers and screens as we didn’t want them to think we were secret-agents or spies. We’re not. (But we could be.)

The Captain kindly showed us around and then offered to take some pictures with us –

As part of our “Cruising Clan” birthday/Christmas celebration my folks organised us all matching zip-up hoodies and caps – embroidered with a little “Cruising Clan” Logo that I’d made.

We decided to don our matching gear for a snap with the Captain!

We thankfully got one of the Captain’s crew to kindly take a pic of all of us in our kit –

(Would have been really good if there had been a little more dress and a little less roof – but – ya know, these people are trained to navigate cruise-liners not snap wedding photos! haha)

This certainly is one of those Wedding Dress Adventures for the book!
