The Africa Yoga Project

Since sharing about the black lives matter movement and the learning I’ve been doing around that, I’ve been thinking about ways in which to support projects and initiatives that support black run programs or black upliftment projects.

Interestingly, since becoming more aware of this in my own personal capacity – different projects, teachers and initiatives have come my way! The Africa Yoga Project is one of those!

I was first introduced to The Africa Yoga Project from Michael Ernest through the podcast interview I ran with him on Kombucha and Colour.

Bruce Ndungu from The Africa Yoga Project got in touch with me to tell me about the “Global Healthy Happy Hour” which takes place every Friday at 5pm NYC, 2pm SF and 10pm UK. You can grab tickets to this Global Happy Hour right here. Yesterday I joined a donation based practice run by Paige Elenson – one of the founders and it was so lovely!

What’s really cool about this “Global healthy happy hour” is that proceeds from your payment go towards fund raising for black communities in need especially at a time where Covid has shaken up so much – particularly so for rural communities where social distancing is challenging and even immediate needs like fresh water is often difficult to come by!

So far, through fundraising The Africa Yoga project have distributed –

Almost 11 000 kg of cereal! Crazy!

And sanitiser products – so vital for these times we are living in!

If you’re not able to make the class itself – you can also donate directly which will assist The Africa Yoga project with reaching their goals of creating an even more robust academy which offers modules that not only include yoga training but academic modules too, that foster entrepreneurship, leadership and interpersonal skills.

Share this with a friend and come and join me at the next practice!
