Wedding Dress Adventures, Amalia Glacier

I’m beginning to think there is some kind of sorcery connected to this wedding dress of mine.

For those who are perhaps new to this story – our mission to recreate our wedding album after losing our professional wedding photos is still going strong.

Last Christmas we had the best family holiday ever on a cruise with Norwegian Cruise Liners around South America. We were stopping off in 4 different countries – so The Warr and I packed our wedding kit ready for some more epic wedding dress adventures!

We had an awesome trip and snapped some amazing pics, but when we got back to London, I transferred all my photos over to my hard drive and thinking (and to be honest, double checking!!) that all the photos had been copied over I went and formatted my camera cards to make space for filming content for my membership area “Move Breathe Create“.

When I went to edit some wedding dress photos last week, I opened up my holiday photos folder and saw that only a quarter of the pics had actually copied across. (Cue: tears).

Someone on instagram mentioned an amazing site called Stellar Info – that can find data on old hard drives even if the hard drive has been formatted! (HOLLA!) So I gave it a go and saw that it could retrieve a whole host of images so I bought the software and set the software to retrieve the lost photos.

I’ve just sat down to edit some pics now and as I try and open up some of the wedding dress pictures of our pit stop at one of the glaciers – almost every single photo of us in our wedding kit is a “damaged” or “file not supported” picture. And every other picture in that retrieved folder seems to be perfectly fine. WHAT THE ACTUAL?!

So, anyway, here are some of the random “in-between” snaps that I have managed to open!

We made a special detour to see the incredible Amalia Glacier – which you can see in the background – that huge field of ice! The captain of the ship had never seen this massive glacier before, so he got permission to take the ship on a detour for us (and mainly for him!) to see it – Super special! So although this wasn’t a country per se – it definitely was an adventure! There were masses of people all trying to get a snap of this glacier, but luckily we found that people very quickly create a path for you when they see a giant fluffy wedding dress coming through!

and yes, it was freezing.

While we had out kit on in the boat – we walked through the chapel – because, when you’re in your wedding kit it’s the most obvious place to be.

And then of course we had literally hundreds of guests on the boat wishing us congratulations as they walked passed!

And, encouraged by my ever-proud parents – we took some snaps in the cruise liner lobby – can you even believe this is INSIDE a ship?!

I’m looking forward to sharing a few more wedding dress adventures from this trip!

Let’s all hold thumbs that the next batch of photos aren’t cursed!!
