Wedding Dress Adventures: St Anton Austria

wedding dress adventures

I was using the new “ask me a question” feature on instagram the other day and someone asked about our last wedding dress adventures – which then made me realise that I actually hadn’t ever posted any of our wedding dress adventures from our St Anton Ski trip!

So – here they are!

chalet narnia st antonA group of us decided to try and book a skiing holiday at the beginning of January (2018), there was a bit of backward-and-forwarding and for a short while it looked like the whole trip idea might just collapse. But then – we got super lucky on an AMAZING black Friday sale and (Jane!) found a deal that we literally couldn’t pass up! We booked to stay at the super gorgeous Chalet Narnia in St Anton, Austria. (It truly was LUSH!)

The crowd we were going with – are all old friends from University days (minus Jules, sorry Jules, 3, 2, Rhodes)  and always up for a good time and many cheers. When it was suggested on the group chat that we have a ‘dress up ski day’ Warr and I, having not yet ticked off Austria on our “wedding dress around the world” mission – knew EXACTLY what we would wear.

We had to do a bit of scouting for a location that
a) everyone could get to
b) that people could get to IN/or CHANGE into their gear (trust me, I can only JUST ski in my regular attire – skiing in a wedding dress is a DEFINITE NO.) and
c) a place that was somehow iconic of St Anton.

And I think we found JUST the perfect spot:

The pic below is the one we have chosen for our “wedding dress adventures” wall!

We got some strangers who were having their apres ski to take some snaps for us – and we got a few good shots.

… and also some shots, where the photographer had deemed Matt’s head to be un-important:

BUT they did happen to think it was NAAAAICE!!!

and now we know why Warren NEEEEEDS sunglasses in his life.

Every time we have had a wedding dress adventure in a new location we have tried to add a bit of “flair” to the standard outfits – Warr has usually dressed according to the location. Since we were doing a dress up and since it needed to be something that was potentially easy to get around in on ski-lifts/chairs etc – we opted for a Steampunk vibe –

and got some epic goggles

After taking a few snaps on the slopes we decided to head to the Mooserwirt – a very popular and super busy apres ski bar at the bottom of one of the slopes. Some of the dare devils skied down to the bar, the rest of us sane ones took the chair lifts.

“The Moose” was absolutely pumping by the time we arrived and we saw a very cool little DJ booth with the Mooserwirt sign beneath it – since we were still dressed in our kit, we decided to take a chance to see if they would let us hop on the balcony for a quick pic –

Which they did!!

(We weren’t actually expecting them to say yes – so when they did, we got onto the balcony and then saw a sea of people beneath us and weren’t quite sure what to do – so we just jumped around a bit, as you do.

You can also see me mouthing at the end of the vid above “do you have a picture?!”

YES – they do!

So awesome!!

So that is a wrap for the Austrian wedding dress adventures! I’m not sure where we will head off to next, but we’ve definitely got some very exciting places coming up at the end of the year! And I cannot wait!

Maybe THEN Ellen will invite us on her show!
