Couple loses wedding photos: Sideman, Bali

The long awaited Bali “Wedding Dress Adventures” are finally here! I say “long-awaited” but really only my mom has been waiting for them (Hey mom).

It’s taken so long to edit these because I’ve been so busy with getting things rolling with my new members platform  (which is so super exciting!) but today I just decided to get on and DO IT! I should first start off by saying that the “Bali wedding dress adventures” come in two parts.

After hosting a 2 week back to back yoga retreat in Seminyak, Warr flew out to join me and one of my besties Kerry (who was on retreat with us) for a week of Balinese exploring.

We headed off to the Gili Islands and decided to go all in and find the Full Moon party since it coincided with our time on the island. (If you haven’t read that post  – you better click over here first!)
That is part one of the Bali Wedding Dress Adventure and this is PART TWO!

It was such fun getting our wedding adventures kit on at the Full Moon party on Gili T – but both Warr and I still didn’t *quite* feel like we had nailed the Bali ‘wedding pic’. It’s funny that since starting these wedding dress adventures we’ve gotten more and more adept at simultaneously knowing when we’ve got “the shot”!
After Kerry left us to head back home to South Africa, Warr and I traveled on to the mountains and rice paddies of Sideman and it’s here that we “NAILED” the wedding dress shot!

We stayed at Villa Sing Ken Ken which had the most amazing view over a field of rice paddies. Warr and I decided that it would be the perfect thing to wake up early one morning before sunrise and get some “wedding dress” pics as the sun came up over the valley – so that is what we did!

We woke up about 5:40 to get ready (quickest ‘wedding hair and make up’ in the world.) and then headed down to this little cliff overlooking the rice paddies – 

We had our big SLR for the “real shots” but obviously I had to get some iPhone snaps for the @weddingdressadventures instagram account:

It’s always a bit tricky setting things up with regard to camera angles and lighting etc when you are using a self timer and camera.

We didn’t have a tripod with us – so we were trying to balance the camera on rocks and rotting old benches without letting it get wet from all the morning dew and still having the camera balancing in the right direction.

We were about to take the pic below when my dress totally got caught in something as Warren bent down – so now it just looks like he’s proposing –

Which is fine – because WE ALL KNOW how much I LOVE BEING PROPOSED TO.

Eventually we worked out the right angle/camera balancing act –

And then we WENT TO TOWN.

We were getting more and more excited about how cool the pics were turning out with every single shot we snapped, and also as the morning light began changing!

(I feel like I say this every time, but honestly these Bali pics are some of my favourite in all the Wedding Dress Adventures yet!)

And then we found a brand new spot to balance the camera on and then…

The pic above is our favourite from the Bali Adventures!

Although this one was a close contender –

(DAMN. Gotta get me some TAN again.)

Once we found another cool camera angle we had such fun playing and taking pics and getting into the “wedding vibes” as the sun rose up over the rice paddies.

So peaceful and awesome and so special to be sharing it with The Warr before anyone else had even woken up.

After we’d had some fun playing around with the pics we headed back up to the villa area in time for breakfast.

As we came up the side of the cliff a very surprised French family suddenly saw a couple emerging from no-where in full wedding kit – which was hilarious.

We told them about our story and then we asked if they wouldn’t mind please taking a photo for us with the pool overlooking the paddies.

Such a magical morning and such fun adventure in Bali together.

These pics are some of my absolute FAVES!!

So far the countries/places we’ve had pics taken have included: Paris, Amsterdam, Belgium, South Africa, The French Alps, India, The Northern lights, Spain, Sydney and a smoke bomb shoot in Kent.

(We also snuck a wedding dress pic in Austria from our skiing trip last week –  I will get round to sharing those soon!)
